Camper Vans Without Bathrooms

As a renter, you may or may not want a bathroom inside your camper van. If you rent a class b camper with a bathroom included for a few days, you’ll likely understand why they’re often viewed as wasted space, messy, and more of a pain than most individuals want to manage. When camper vans come with a bathroom they include a toilet and possibly a shower. A bathroom is a great idea in theory and they save the day on occasion, but are they worth the space and headache?

Optimized For Space

When we ordered our first camper van from Vanworks, we decided to leave the bathroom out of the design because we wanted our renters to have more space to experience the things they love, like slow dancing to the sounds of nature or using the standing desk to work-remotely before an afternoon hike. Our vans are simple and they offer a lot of room inside so that renters never feel cramped. A toilet and shower take up a lot of useful space. When inside the van it’s nice to feel comfortable and be able to spread out.

Bathrooms Inside Small Campers Become Messy

It’s our process to clean and disinfect the camper vans from top to bottom. We sterilize all high touch surfaces, like door handles, steering wheels, radio dials, light switches, parking brakes, and mirrors. We clean the sheets and bedding and we disinfect the kitchenware before each rental. By adding a bathroom to the design it invites a different kind of experience and filth. Camper vans are small so it’s smart to avoid filling them with unpleasant smells. We like to think of a simple camper as being a bedroom or mobile-office on wheels. Renting a camper van should be frictionless and easy.

“It may sound silly, but when everything is constructed inside the van it partially discourages exploration outside of the van. The mindset you approach the adventure with goes a long way in crafting the experience you’re seeking”

Going To The Bathroom Outside

Camper vans offer a different way to enjoy camping. Instead of sleeping in a tent or a hammock, you sleep inside the van on a bed. Renters should anticipate going to the bathroom outside or in a basic campground facility. When you go dispersed camping keep in mind that you’re not typically going to find trash collection services or garbage cans nearby, so be sure to keep your trash until you get back to civilization. “To dispose of feces, campers can use a or dig a cathole six inches deep and at least 100ft away from any water source. Once done, fill the hole back up with dirt and pack out any toilet paper.”
